Virgin
Voyages
Rebellious Luxury. Virgin Voyages disrupted the industry by banning buffets, eliminating "kids clubs" entirely, and creating an "Adult-by-Design" yacht experience at scale.
The Mission:
Set Sail The Virgin Way.
Virgin Voyages is the antithesis of the traditional cruise. They have scrapped the "Main Dining Room" concept entirely. Instead, there are 20+ eateries (from a Korean BBQ to a vegetarian-forward laboratory) and all food is included in the fare. There are no upcharges for specialty dining.
The on-board vibe is strictly 18+. This allows for a completely different atmosphere—drag brunch shows, a two-story nightclub (The Manor) inspired by Richard Branson's first music studio, and a pool deck that feels more like Ibiza than Orlando. It is designed for travelers who think they hate cruises.
"Virgin Voyages includes 'Essential Drinks' (soda, water, drip coffee) and Wi-Fi in the base fare. They also eliminated tipping/gratuities entirely—the price you see is the price you pay."
Target: The Non-Cruiser
Designed for Millennials and Gen X who prefer boutique hotels to mega-resorts. If you care about fitness (the gym is massive), sustainability, and craft cocktails, this is the fleet for you.
Target: The "RockStar"
The "Mega RockStar" suites are among the most hedonistic at sea, featuring electric guitars in the room, a private "Richard's Rooftop" sundeck, and a dedicated "Roadie" (butler) to handle your logistics.
Value Proposition
While the upfront cost is higher than mass-market lines, the inclusion of all dining, gratuities, Wi-Fi, and fitness classes makes the total vacation cost highly competitive.

Engineering Profile
The Vertical Prow
The Lady Class ships feature a distinctive, nearly vertical grey hull. This isn't just aesthetic; it's a modern take on the "axe bow" concept. This design slices through waves rather than riding over them, improving hydrodynamic efficiency and fuel economy by approximately 5% compared to traditional flared bows.
Climeon Power Generation
Virgin Voyages was an early adopter of Climeon technology. This system converts waste heat from the ship's engines (which is usually vented) into clean electricity. Each ship has six Climeon modules, generating enough power to run the ship's lighting systems purely from recycled heat.
The "Sea Terrace" Hammock
Every balcony cabin ("Sea Terrace") features a custom-engineered red hammock. While it looks simple, the structural reinforcement required to safely anchor these hammocks into the steel superstructure—while maintaining fire safety codes—was a significant design engineering challenge.
