The Prodigy Verdict
Intimate & Authentic.
The MSC Lirica is the antithesis of the modern "mega-ship." There are no roller coasters, no promenades, and notably, no MSC Yacht Club. Instead, you get a vessel that was physically cut in half and lengthened in 2015 to add new balcony cabins and a spray park. It excels in itinerary delivery. Its smaller size allows it to dock right in the heart of cities where larger ships must tender. The vibe is distinctly Europeanโrelaxed, slower-paced, and focused on the sea.
- Travelers who treat the ship as a hotel, not a destination.
- Couples seeking a quieter, more traditional cruise.
- Budget hunters looking for the lowest entry price in the Med.
- No Yacht Club: Luxury travelers should look to the Seaside or World class.
- Limited Dining: Specialty dining options are minimal compared to newer ships.
- Age: Despite the refurb, cabin styling remains traditional (navy blues and brass).
The Zones
Compact and navigable. Almost all entertainment is located on Decks 5 and 6, with pools on Deck 11.
Le Piscine
The main pool deck. It features two saltwater pools and two whirlpools. It is straightforward, uncrowded, and open to the sky.
Broadway Theatre
A classic two-deck show lounge. Unlike the high-tech venues on World Class, this offers traditional revue shows and opera performances.
Lord Nelson Pub
An iconic venue on the Lirica class. A proper English-style pub serving pints and playing sports. A favorite hideaway for many.
The Blue Club
The late-night disco located at the aft of Deck 12. Surrounded by glass walls, it offers ocean views by day and DJ sets by night.
Doremi Park
Added during the 2015 "Renaissance" stretch. A spray park for kids featuring water cannons, bucket drops, and fountains.
MSC Aurea Spa
Located forward on Deck 11. It features floor-to-ceiling windows in the gym and treatment rooms, offering the best views on the ship.
Dining & Provisions
Dining here is traditional. Expect fixed dining times in the main restaurants and limited specialty options.
La Bussola
Main Dining
The larger of the two main restaurants, located aft. It serves a different Italian regional menu every night.
L'Ippocampo
Main Dining
The more intimate dining room on Deck 6. Ideal for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere for dinner.
Le Bistrot
Buffet
The cafeteria-style buffet. It offers 20-hour service and is famous for its late-night pizza station.
Kaito Sushi
Asian Fusion
One of the few specialty venues on board. Freshly prepared sushi, sashimi, and tempura. A hidden gem for a quiet lunch.
Gelateria
Italian Ice Cream
Located on the pool deck. Serves authentic homemade gelato. Perfect for hot Mediterranean afternoons.
La Pergola
Outdoor Grill
The casual al fresco grill near the pools. Burgers, hot dogs, and salads served in a relaxed, open-air setting.
Where It Sails
MSC Lirica is a staple of the Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean.
- Santorini & Mykonos
- Dubrovnik & Split
- Venice & Bari
Because Lirica is smaller, she can often dock closer to old towns (like Kotor) than the massive World Europa.

Since there is no Yacht Club, the "Aurea" experience is the top tier here. It includes priority boarding and the "Easy" drink package, which is high value on this ship.
The Vibe Check
Is this ship for you? It is a "Classic" experience.
Traditional. Low ceilings, brass railings, and navy blues. It feels like a ship, not a resort. It is quieter and less frenetic than the mega-ships.
Highly international. You will be among Italians, Spaniards, Germans, and French. English is spoken, but it is not the dominant language.

Cabin Recon
Cabins are smaller than modern standards. The 2015 refit added balconies, but they are still a minority.
Ocean View
The most common room type. Features a large porthole or picture window. Be careful of "Obstructed View" categories on Deck 7 behind the lifeboats.
Balcony Aurea
These are the newer rooms added during the 2015 stretch. They are slightly more modern and offer the Aurea perks (spa access, dining flexibility).
Suite Aurea
The largest rooms on board. Note: These are single-room suites (no separate bedroom), but they offer walk-in wardrobes and bathtubs.
