The Prodigy Verdict
The Anti-Mega Ship.
Radiance of the Seas is a reminder of what Royal Caribbean used to be before they started building floating cities. Instead of inward-facing malls, this ship faces outward. With glass elevators facing the sea and floor-to-ceiling windows in nearly every public venue, it is arguably the most scenic ship in the fleet. It lacks the adrenaline of the Icon Class, but makes up for it with elegance and ease of navigation.
- Scenic cruising (Alaska, Norway, Panama Canal)
- Couples who find the mega-ships too loud
- Traditionalists who enjoy the connection to the sea
- Note that this ship prioritizes views over velocity.
- It does not feature FlowRiders, ice rinks, or waterslides.
- Families with teens may prefer the amplified Oasis class.
The Zones
Compact but airy. The ship feels open due to the massive amount of glass.
The Centrum
The vertical heart of the ship. Features glass elevators that face the oceanβa design element Royal sadly abandoned on newer ships.
The Colony Club
A distinct, clubby aft lounge. Famous for its gyroscope-leveled pool tables that stay perfectly flat even when the ship rocks.
Solarium
An adults-focused retreat with an African safari theme (stone elephants included). The retractable glass roof makes it usable in Alaska cold or Caribbean heat.
Viking Crown
A Royal Caribbean classic. This saucer-shaped observation lounge sits high above the decks, offering 360-degree panoramic views.
Fairways
The "Fairways of Radiance" is a full-scale 9-hole miniature golf course. Situated near the children's area but enjoyed by all ages.
Rock Wall
The brand signature. Rising 200 feet above sea level, it offers varying tracks of difficulty and unbeatable views from the top bell.
Adventure Ocean
Dedicated youth program spaces located forward. Divided by age group (Aquanauts, Explorers, Voyagers) plus a dedicated teen disco.
Vitality Spa
A full-service spa offering thermal suites and treatments. A quiet escape, though be warned of the aggressive product sales pitch at the end.
Dining & Provisions
While it lacks the 40+ restaurants of Icon, the quality here is consistent and the views from the dining rooms are superior.
Park CafΓ©
Solarium Bistro
Located inside the Solarium. Famous for the "Kummelweck" roast beef sandwich. A perfect, quieter alternative to the buffet for lunch.
Chops Grille
Signature Steakhouse
The Royal Caribbean staple. On Radiance, this venue features massive windows, making sunset dinners here spectacular.
Windjammer
Marketplace
Unlike most ships, the Windjammer here has a dedicated outdoor seating terrace at the aft. Eating breakfast while watching the wake is a ritual.
Cascades
Main Dining Room
A multi-level dining venue with a dramatic waterfall staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows. Traditional assigned or My Time options.
Giovanni's Table
Rustic Italian
Serves family-style Italian staples like osso buco and handmade pasta. A warm, trattoria-style atmosphere that feels distinct from the main hall.
Izumi
Asian Fusion
Fresh sushi and hot-rock grilling (Ishiyaki). A guest favorite for a lighter dinner, though reservations are essential due to limited seating.
Dog House
Poolside Bites
Located on the pool deck, serving varied sausages and hot dogs with customized toppings. The perfect quick grab-and-go after swimming.
Chef's Table
Epicurean Experience
An intimate, guided five-course dinner with wine pairings hosted by a senior chef. The most exclusive dining experience on the ship.
Where It Sails
Radiance splits its time between the glaciers and the tropics.
- Summer '26: Alaska (North/Southbound)
- Winter '26/27: Western Caribbean (Tampa)
- Transitions: Panama Canal repositioning
In Summer, she is the premier ship for the Gulf of Alaska run (Vancouver to Seward) because the glass construction is ideal for glacier viewing. In Winter, she offers shorter, easy escapes from Tampa.

Cost Reality
Radiance often offers better value than the newest ships, but pricing varies wildly by destination.
- Main Dining & Windjammer
- Park CafΓ© (Solarium)
- Rock Climbing & Mini Golf
- Adventure Ocean (Kids Club)
- Specialty Dining (Chops, Giovanni's)
- Alcohol Packages
- Spa Thermal Suite
- Shore Excursions (Pricey in Alaska)
In Alaska, the Solarium is the best spot on the ship. It is warm, enclosed, and offers perfect views of the fjords without freezing on deck.
The Vibe Check
Is this ship for you? It is quieter and more refined than the "Party Ships."
Relaxed exploration. While you will still find families, the lack of massive waterparks tends to attract a slightly older, more destination-focused crowd.
Varies by season. Alaska brings multi-generational families and seniors. Caribbean sailings are more mixed, but still calmer than Wonder of the Seas.

Cabin Recon
The hardware is older, but the "Ultra Spacious" options are hidden gems for families.
Interior Stateroom
Small by modern standards (approx 160 sq ft). Best for budget travelers who plan to spend all day in the Solarium or ashore.
Ocean View (Large)
On Radiance class, these rooms often feature massive, round windows that provide excellent light. A great compromise if a balcony is out of budget.
Grand Suite
Offers significantly more space and a large balcony. Includes Concierge Club access, which is a nice perk on this older ship class.
