The Prodigy Verdict
The Ship of Light.
Part of the "Vision Class," Rhapsody of the Seas was built during an era when connecting you to the ocean was the priority. With over two acres of glass canopies and floor-to-ceiling windows, she offers views the mega-ships simply cannot match. She lacks the FlowRiders and ice rinks of her younger sisters, but she makes up for it with a calm, adult-friendly atmosphere and a crew that actually remembers your name.
- Destination collectors (San Juan based)
- Couples seeking a quieter, classic vibe
- Travelers who prefer "ships that look like ships"
- No water slides or surf simulators
- Limited children's facilities compared to newer ships
- Entertainment is more intimate than Broadway-style productions
The Zones
Compact and easy to navigate. You are never more than a 5-minute walk from anywhere.
The Solarium
The heart of the ship for adults. A Roman-themed pool area with a retractable glass roof. Rain or shine, this is the place to be.
The Centrum
A soaring 7-deck atrium. By day, it's a light-filled plaza. By night, aerialists perform overhead while live bands play below.
Viking Crown
Perched high on Deck 11, this signature Royal venue offers 360-degree panoramic views. The ultimate spot for sail-away cocktails.
Schooner Bar
Nautical-themed and smelling of teak wood. The home of trivia during the day and sing-along piano classics at night.
R Bar
A throwback to the 1960s. Located in the Centrum, it serves vintage cocktails in a sophisticated setting perfect for people-watching.
Rock Wall
Attached to the funnel, this signature feature offers one of the best views on the ship if you can make it to the top.
Vitality Spa
A full-service sanctuary offering massages, facials, and a fitness center with floor-to-ceiling ocean views.
Pool Deck
The main outdoor hub featuring swimming pools, whirlpools, and plenty of loungers for soaking up the Caribbean sun.
Dining & Provisions
While it lacks the 20+ eateries of the Icon Class, the dining here is solid, consistent, and less crowded.
Chops Grille
Classic Steakhouse
Royal's signature steakhouse. On Rhapsody, it features floor-to-ceiling windows for ocean-view dining. The filet mignon remains undefeated.
Park Cafe
Solarium Bistro
Located inside the Solarium. Famous for the "Kummelweck" roast beef sandwich. The best spot for a quiet, healthy breakfast or lunch.
Izumi
Asian Fusion
Fresh sushi and sashimi with great views. Located high up on the ship, it's a hidden gem often overlooked by first-timers.
Giovanni's
Italian Kitchen
Rustic, family-style Italian dishes. A warm, inviting atmosphere perfect for sharing pasta, focaccia, and braised meats.
Edelweiss
Main Dining
The ship's elegant two-story dining room. Serving multi-course dinners with global inspiration and dedicated waitstaff service.
Windjammer
Global Buffet
Casual dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Located forward on Deck 9, it offers some of the best panoramic views while you eat.
Chef's Table
VIP Experience
An exclusive, intimate dining experience hosted by the Chef de Cuisine, featuring a five-course meal with wine pairings.
CafΓ© Latte-tudes
Coffee Bar
Your source for specialty espresso drinks and complimentary pastries. A perfect spot for a mid-day pick-me-up.
Where It Sails
Rhapsody is the "Southern Specialist." She accesses ports the giants can't reach.
- Summer '26: Southern Caribbean (San Juan)
- Winter '26/27: Southern Caribbean (San Juan)
- Key Ports: St. Croix, Dominica, Barbados
This is a port-intensive ship. Expect to visit a different island almost every day. It's less about the sea days and more about waking up in a new paradise daily.

Cost Reality
Older ships often offer better value, but be aware of what you are paying for.
- Main Dining Room
- Windjammer Marketplace
- Park Cafe & Solarium Access
- Adventure Ocean (Kids Club)
- Specialty Dining (Chops, etc.)
- Alcohol & Soda Packages
- Shore Excursions (Major expense here)
- WiFi (VOOM)
Since Rhapsody does port-heavy itineraries, spending big on a drink package might not be worth it if you are off the ship 8 hours a day. Calculate wisely.
The Vibe Check
Is this ship for you? It's relaxed, social, and focused on the sea.
Laid back. You'll find live bands in the Centrum and piano players in the Schooner Bar, not massive parades or diving shows. It feels intimate.
Generally older (50+) and more international. However, during holidays and summer breaks, families do book it for the value.

Cabin Recon
Older ships have smaller standard cabins, but the suites are excellent value.
Interior Stateroom
Small (approx 135-145 sq ft) but functional. Best for solo travelers or couples who only sleep in the room.
Large Oceanview
A hallmark of the Vision Class. Features a large, round window (not a porthole) that lets in tons of light. Great value if you don't need a balcony.
Junior Suite
Significant jump in space (240+ sq ft) with a bathtub and a large balcony. Often priced very competitively on this older ship.
