Retrospective

Farewell to a Legend.

When Seabourn Odyssey launched in 2009, it was a revolution. It bridged the gap between small yachts and full-featured cruise ships, introducing the industry to "Seabourn Square"—a concept that replaced the stuffy lobby with a living room.

For 15 years, she was the standard-bearer of the fleet. On September 2, 2024, she departed Seattle for her final voyage under the Seabourn banner, crossing the Pacific to Yokohama where she was formally handed over to Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. She now sails the Japanese market as the Mitsui Ocean Fuji.

Her Legacy Features

Seabourn Square: The first ship to feature the coffee-bar-meets-concierge hub.

All-Suite Design: She set the template for the Odyssey-class architecture.

The Onboard Experience

A look back at the spaces that defined the Odyssey class. These venues continue to exist on her sister ships, Sojourn and Quest.

The Restaurant

The main dining room was known for its open-seating policy and soaring ceilings. It set the standard for fine dining without surcharges.

The Club

The aft lounge featured a small casino and plunge pool. It was the venue for pre-dinner cocktails and late-night dancing.

Spa at Seabourn

At launch, it was the largest spa on any luxury ship, featuring a Kinesis wall and thermal suite that became a fleet staple.

The Marina

The retractable watersports platform allowed guests to kayak and swim directly from the ship—a feature beloved in the Caribbean.

Sister Ships

Continuing the Legacy

While the Odyssey has departed, her identical sisters remain in the Seabourn fleet, offering the exact same layout and atmosphere.

Why was she sold?

As part of Carnival Corporation's modernization strategy, older tonnage is rotated out to make way for newer expedition vessels like the Seabourn Venture and Pursuit.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines acquired her to launch their new luxury division, recognizing that the ship's condition was impeccable—a testament to her maintenance.
