Both stories you have found online are true, which is why this is so confusing. Norwegian Getaway became the first ship to tie up at the new pier in late December 2025, and the pier then closed again at the start of April 2026 so the second berth could be built. The two-ship pier has since reopened and handled simultaneous ship calls. Treat any article you read - including a glowing one about docking - as a snapshot, and take your answer from your ship's daily program the night before. Follow your ship's daily docking or tender instructions, including its last-tender time if applicable.
Almost, and less so than it used to be. The beaches, chairs, umbrellas, tram, and all the regular dining remain included in your fare, which is the island's whole appeal. But Great Tides Waterpark, which opened September 4, 2026, breaks the pattern: it requires a separate day pass starting at about $100 per person for adults and children alike, with cabana packages running into four figures. Passes are sold in advance through NCL and prices vary by sailing. So the honest version is that a completely free day is still entirely possible - you now have to choose it.

A few small bills, yes - which is worth knowing because everything NCL operates on the island can be charged to your cruise card. The exception is the straw market, where independent Bahamian vendors sell craftwork; they are not part of the NCL operation and do not take the ship's card. Those vendors travel in by boat from Great Harbour Cay on days when ships visit, and they offer the most genuinely local experience on the island. Tuck a small amount of cash into your beach bag if you think you might want to buy something, and leave the rest in the safe.
