Klawock River & Hatchery

The SSRAA hatchery sits a short walk from the Totem Park. From late July through September the river fills with Coho and Sockeye; bald eagles gather by the hundreds and black bears come to feed. A prime, reliable spot for wildlife—make noise on the river trail and give bears room.

El Capitan Cave

Getting Back to Your Ship: The Work-Backwards Method

Golden Rule: The port is an island linked to everything by ONE bridge and ONE free shuttle; the Craig round-trip alone runs ~40min, and there are no taxis or Ubers to bail you out. All-aboard is the LAST moment to board—be back across the bridge well before it.

Step-by-Step Calculation Example:

  2. Subtract boarding (15min): 4:15pm
  3. Subtract shuttle from Craig (20min): 3:55pm
  4. Add safety buffer (30min): 3:25pm

RESULT: Catch a shuttle out of Craig by 3:25pm
