Singapore has TWO cruise terminals, and they are not equally connected. HarbourFront sits on an MRT interchange with a mall attached; Marina Bay sits on reclaimed land 650m from a dead-end station. Find out which is yours first.
Supertrees and outdoor gardens are free; the cooled domes are not. Buy the Flower Dome + Cloud Forest combo (S$30)—the Cloud Forest waterfall is the one worth queueing for. Open 9am–9pm, but each dome closes one day a month for maintenance. Check the closure calendar first.
The 57th-floor deck atop the three hotel towers, ship-shaped roof underfoot and the harbour laid out below. Off-peak (10am–4:30pm) is S$35; after 5pm it hits S$39 and fills with sunset crowds. Take the morning slot. The infinity pool is hotel guests only; the deck is not.
Beaches, Universal Studios and the cable car, four minutes from the HarbourFront terminal. The Sentosa Express from VivoCity is S$4; the Boardwalk beside it is free and takes 10–15 minutes. On the island, monorail, buses and beach trams cost nothing.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Sri Mariamman and the shophouse lanes—then eat at Maxwell (8am–10pm), where Tian Tian’s chicken rice runs S$4–8. Tian Tian closes Mondays, Ah Ter Sundays; eighty other stalls cover you. Bring cash.
The two quarters most cruise passengers skip and later regret. Sultan Mosque and the murals of Haji Lane sit two MRT stops from Little India’s Tekka Centre. Free, photogenic, best-value lunch in the city. Cover shoulders and knees inside the mosque.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, free to enter and open from 5am. Pay S$15 for the National Orchid Garden, which is the reason to come. Furthest of these six from either terminal, so make it a morning, not an afternoon.
Golden Rule: Singapore has the best metro in Asia, so what strands people here is never the city—it is the last 650 metres. At MBCCS you leave the MRT, walk outdoors to the terminal, then clear airport-style security and immigration. Budget 25 minutes from the fare gate to the gangway, not five.

No, and it catches out most Southeast Asia itineraries. Singapore Customs grants the liquor concession only if you are 18 or over, have been away 48 hours or more, and are not arriving from Malaysia - and it counts you as arriving from Malaysia if you cleared Malaysian immigration before reaching Singapore, which is exactly what stepping ashore in Penang or Langkawi involves. Worth knowing separately: there is no duty-free concession on cigarettes or tobacco here at all, not even a single pack.
It is - possession is the offense, not only bringing one in. Singapore has prohibited the purchase, possession and use of vaporizers since 2018, with fines of up to S$10,000, and since May 2026 devices containing etomidate and related substances carry up to S$20,000, up to ten years in prison, or both. The Health Sciences Authority's guidance draws no exemption for visitors. If you vape, the device is better left at home than in the drawer.
Because it does not open until 6pm. The park runs 6pm to midnight daily, with the walking trails and the tram starting at 7pm and last entry at 11:15pm, so a ship sailing in the late afternoon is well out to sea before the gate opens. It also sits at Mandai in the far north of the island, the opposite end from both cruise terminals. Treat it as the best possible use of a night before you board or after you disembark, not as a day-ashore option.
You can - the Long Bar takes walk-ins only and reserves tables just for groups of ten to twenty, so everyone else lines up. Go in from North Bridge Road rather than hunting through the hotel lobby; the bar is on the second floor of Raffles Arcade and opens at 11am. Smart casual keeps you welcome through the rest of the hotel. And do sweep your peanut shells onto the floor: Raffles describes it as quite possibly the only place in Singapore where littering is encouraged.
There is, up the hill behind you rather than across the water. Henderson Waves is a 274-meter timber-decked pedestrian bridge - the tallest in Singapore - with seven wave-form ribs that double as shaded alcoves, linking the parks of the Southern Ridges above HarbourFront, and it costs nothing. Start at Mount Faber Plaza, which the cable car priced above will carry you to if you would rather not climb in equatorial humidity. It is lit nightly from 7pm.
To Changi rather than the cruise terminal. Smarte Carte runs staffed baggage storage around the clock in all four airport terminals and at Jewel, priced by bag size for each 24 hours, and it will also deliver bags on to a hotel for a fee. Everything is inspected before it goes in. Because the airport sits at the opposite end of the island from both cruise terminals, the sensible shape of a late-flight day is to head straight there, drop the bags, and spend the day out from Changi rather than hauling them around town.
