The Prodigy Verdict
Modern Classic.
MSC Splendida represents the "sweet spot" of the MSC fleet. It is large enough to offer multiple pools, a 4D cinema, and a Formula 1 simulator, but intimate enough to feel like a ship rather than a shopping mall. It is heavily European in style, featuring the authentic "La Piazzetta" stone square and real espresso bars. While it lacks the water parks of the newer vessels, the lower passenger density and the stunning aft infinity pool make it a favorite for couples and mature travelers.
- Travelers who find the World Class too large/impersonal.
- Those seeking the original, highly exclusive Yacht Club layout.
- Mediterranean port-intensive itineraries.
- Pool Deck: Can get crowded on sunny sea days; chair hogging is common.
- Tech: Cabin technology (USB ports, smart TVs) is dated compared to newer ships.
- Smoking: European clientele means smoking is more visible in designated outdoor areas.
The Zones
From the glitter of the atrium to the serenity of the spa, Splendida offers distinct environments.
The Atrium
The visual centerpiece. Features the iconic Swarovski crystal staircases (each step costs thousands of euros) and live piano music.
La Piazzetta
An indoor "town square" paved with real stone. Surrounded by pastry shops and cafes, it is the social heart of the ship for coffee and conversation.
Aqua Park
The main pool deck featuring fountains and water jets. It is lively, loud, and the center of the animation team's activities.
Playa Del Sol
The aft infinity pool area (Zen Area). This is one of the best designed aft decks in the fleet, offering wake views and a quieter atmosphere.
F1 Simulator
A full-scale Formula 1 car simulator. Located near the 4D Cinema, it allows guests to virtually race on famous tracks.
The Strand Theatre
A massive, two-deck entertainment venue. Shows here are visually driven (acrobatics, magic, opera) to transcend language barriers.
Aurea Spa
A Balinese-themed wellness center. Features a comprehensive thermal suite with saunas, steam rooms, and a whirlpool.
MSC Yacht Club
Located on the prestigious forward decks. Features the Top Sail Lounge with panoramic views and a private pool deck.
Dining & Provisions
Splendida focuses on Mediterranean classics. The specialty dining is limited compared to newer ships but high in quality.
Butcher's Cut
American Steakhouse
Classic American steakhouse serving prime cuts, New York cheesecake, and bold red wines. A guest favorite for dinner.
Santa Fe
Tex-Mex
A casual specialty venue serving fajitas, enchiladas, and Mexican beers. It’s a fun diversion from the standard Italian fare.
La Reggia
Main Dining
The larger, two-deck main dining room. Features gold accents and traditional assigned seating. It can be quite loud during peak times.
Villa Verde
Panoramic Dining
The aft main dining room offering spectacular wake views. It is generally quieter and brighter than La Reggia.
Bora Bora
Buffet
The massive buffet area. Famous for its pizza station (made fresh constantly) and mozzarella production.
Purple Jazz Bar
Lounge
A distinct venue with its own drink menu. The aesthetic is bold (purple/chrome) and it hosts live jazz and blues nightly.
L'Espresso
Coffee Bar
An authentic Italian coffee bar serving Segafredo espresso. The pastries here (costs extra) are better than the buffet.
L'Olivo
Exclusive Dining
The dedicated restaurant for Yacht Club guests. Offers flexible dining times and a significantly upgraded menu.

The Vibe Check
Is this ship for you? It is more "classic cruise" than "theme park."
Elegant and cosmopolitan. It feels less frantic than the mega-ships. The evening dress code is generally respected by the European clientele.
Diverse. Expect multiple languages for all announcements. It attracts couples and families who value itinerary and price over waterslides.
