The Prodigy Verdict
The Glass Evolution.
The Sun Princess is the first of the Sphere Class, representing the biggest design shift in Princess Cruises' history. It abandons the darker, enclosed layouts of the past for an outward-facing design centered around "The Sphere"—a multi-deck glass piazza carved into the side of the ship. While the hardware is stunning, the standout feature is the new "Sanctuary Collection." This ship-within-a-ship concept finally offers a true luxury enclave with a private restaurant and sundeck, correcting a long-standing gap in the Princess fleet.
- Loyal Princess cruisers ready for a modern, resort-style ship.
- Foodies (The Butcher's Block and The Catch are standouts).
- Luxury travelers who want the Sanctuary Collection perks.
- Park19: The touted "Rollglider" and ropes course features were cancelled and never opened. The area is now a passive relaxation zone.
- Alfredo's: Now incurs a cover charge unless you have the Plus/Premier package.
- Elevators: Smart elevators can be confusing at first; select your floor before entering.
The Spheres
The ship is designed around light. The traditional dark atrium has been replaced by the sun-drenched Sphere Piazza.
The Sphere
A multi-deck glass piazza that floods the ship's center with natural light. It features tiered seating and ocean views, replacing the enclosed atrium of older ships.
The Dome
A massive glass-enclosed structure forward. By day, it's a tiered pool deck; by night, it transforms into an acrobatic performance venue featuring Cirque-style shows.
Sanctuary Club
The exclusive top-deck retreat. Reserved for Sanctuary Collection guests (suites), offering private pool access and luxury lounging.
Park 19
Originally planned as an adventure park. The rides (Rollglider) were cancelled. It is now a chill zone with the "Infinite Horizon" tilt wall and hammock area.
Princess Arena
The most technically advanced theater in the fleet. It can be configured in-the-round, allowing for immersive, high-energy production shows.
Spellbound
A hidden "speakeasy" experience created with the Magic Castle. The price has been adjusted (~$45) to include cocktails and the show (dinner is no longer included).
Dining & Provisions
A massive expansion of options. The ship balances included venues with high-end specialty concepts like "Love by Britto."
Horizons Dining
Main Dining Room
A three-story aft dining venue with stunning wake views. It functions as the primary MDR for breakfast and dinner.
The Eatery
Modern Buffet
A food-hall style buffet on Deck 9. Offers distinct stations rather than one long line, improving flow and food quality.
International Café
24-Hour Bistro
The legendary Princess staple. Located in the Piazza, serving complimentary pastries, sandwiches, and salads 24 hours a day.
Alfredo's Pizzeria
Sit-Down Pizza
Consistently rated the best pizza at sea. *Note: Incurs a cover charge unless you have the Princess Plus/Premier package.
Crown Grill
Steakhouse
Princess' signature premium steakhouse. Features an open kitchen and top-tier cuts of beef. A must for at least one night.
Butcher's Block
By Dario Cecchini
A carnivore's dream. A family-style dining experience curated by the world's most famous butcher, Dario Cecchini.
The Catch by Rudi
Seafood
Created by Chef Rudi Sodamin. A celebration of seafood featuring whimsical "food face" plates and fresh catches.
Love by Britto
Artistic Dining
A unique concept located aft deck 17. The menu is designed to be an aphrodisiac experience, set against Romero Britto's colorful art.
Where It Sails
Sun Princess splits its time between the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
- 7-Day Eastern/Western Caribbean
- Mediterranean & Greek Isles
- Transatlantic Repositioning
Caribbean itineraries almost always include a stop at Princess Cays (private island). The ship's size makes it a destination in itself, so sea days are valuable.

The Vibe Check
Is this ship for you? It feels significantly more modern and upscale than the rest of the fleet.
Sophisticated, airy, and resort-like. The design maximizes ocean views, moving away from the "shopping mall" feel of older ships.
Attracts a slightly younger demographic than traditional Princess ships, including families, thanks to the new layout and Park19.
