Independence of the Seas (or "Indy" to the loyalists) hits a specific sweet spot in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Following her "Royal Amplified" refurbishment, she gained modern features like the Perfect Storm waterslides and Playmakers Sports Bar, yet she retains a manageable footprint. It’s the ideal ship if you want the Royal experience without needing a map to find your cabin.

The Zones
Freedom Class introduced the "Promenade" concept, which remains the social heart of the ship.
Royal Promenade
The indoor mall that spans the length of the ship. Home to pubs, pizza, parades, and parties. It’s where 90% of the nightlife happens.
Studio B
A real ice-skating rink at sea. During the day you can skate (long pants required); at night, professional ice shows take over.
Sports Court
A massive aft deck featuring the FlowRider surf simulator, a rock climbing wall, and full-size sports courts for basketball and soccer.
The Perfect Storm
Added during the amplification. The dual racing waterslides (Typhoon and Cyclone) twist over the pool deck for high-speed thrills.
Splashaway Bay
A dedicated aqua park for kids with water cannons, a drench bucket, and mini-slides. A massive upgrade over the old H2O Zone.
The Solarium
The adults-only retreat forward. Features unique cantilevered whirlpools that extend 12 feet over the side of the ship.
The Observatorium
The onboard Escape Room. Solve puzzles to "repair a telescope" before time runs out. A premium group activity added in 2018.
Dunes Mini Golf
A two-story mini-golf course located on the sports deck. It is included in your fare and offers great ocean views while you play.
Dining & Provisions
Indy features a few unique venues, including a rare poolside "chippy."
Fish & Ships
Poolside Seafood
A rarity in the fleet. Grab fried cod, calamari, or lobster rolls right next to the splash pad.
Playmakers
Sports Bar
The best wings on the ship, dozens of TVs, and arcade games. Located directly on the Royal Promenade.
Chops Grille
Steakhouse
The Royal Caribbean staple. Consistent, high-quality steaks and a dark, moody atmosphere perfect for date night.
Giovanni's Table
Italian Trattoria
Classic Italian dining featuring rosemary focaccia and traditional pasta dishes. Located on Deck 11 near the Windjammer.
Izumi
Hibachi & Sushi
Features both a sushi bar and teppanyaki tables. A fun, interactive dining option located on Deck 4.
Johnny Rockets

Classic 50s diner serving burgers and shakes. Located outdoors on Deck 12, it offers al fresco dining with sea views.

Multi-Level
Three stories of grandeur. The menu rotates daily. "My Time Dining" allows for flexible arrival, but reservations are still recommended.

Marketplace
The global marketplace located high on Deck 11. Offers panoramic views and a massive variety of international dishes.

Indy is a frequent flyer in the short-cruise market.
